Kiss of Deceit

The Kiss of Deceit will keep readers in constant suspicion and confusion. I was never certain who the killer was, and the ending took me completely by surprise. In my opinion, the ending is a bit of a cliffhanger for the next book, “Eyes of Betrayal" a sequel that may answer some of the questions I had from the conclusion of this novel. I definitely will read it. Patricia Rasey is an author who knows how to work circles around the reader and make them read it nonstop till the final page. Wonderful job!

"Passionate twist"

The author keeps the reader guessing all the way through this novel right to the very end and I mean the very last line. The book has a strong flow that pulls the plot together beautifully but not with giving away the ending. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and hope I will have the privilege of reading more of this author's work.

Thrilling comes to mind during and after reading Patricia A. Rasey’s suspense thriller, Kiss of Deceit. With amazing and dynamic characters, prefect crime scenes and the second-guessing over who the bad guy is, this book is superb. In the many years that I have been reading suspense thrillers, only two other authors have wowed me as Ms. Rasey has and those authors, in my opinion, she has bypassed.

The characters in Kiss of Deceit were unlike the ordinary, average characters that we sometimes get. Bikers. What is sexier than a bad boy on a Harley? Snake, his name is deceptive, I must say that. He is tough, powerful, and delicious and at times cold, but even when he is being cold; the air crackles with his electricity. Snake and LeAnne are remarkable together and are the halves of the one whole. LeAnne doesn’t sit back and let Snake take over her life either, definitely not. She gives as good as she gets and then some. Patricia A. Rasey’s writing impresses me with every page written. I have come to also expect the unexpected with her stories.

Nevertheless, the twist she writes threw me for a loop within Kiss of Deceit. I couldn’t believe she would leave me wondering which is why I have to applaud her. It was stunning and delicious and I was anxious to get to the sequel to find out what happened next. Patricia A. Rasey writes suspense thrillers as I have rarely seen before. This author, I have placed at the top of my favorite author list. What more can I really say besides that readers will have to get her books to believe it all.

This is a well written, fast paced read that doesn’t want to be put down once started….. Rating: Keeper *****

Get ready for a great ride! Kiss of Deceit took me down a road of intrigue, romance, with a twist at the end I probably should have seen coming; but didn't....

Take a small town female deputy, who's big on heart, and really wants to be a cop to Help people, not harass them, (wow, what a concept!). She wants to get the bad guy(s) that are leaving a bloody trail through her small town where everyone knows your name...and your business as well. Her job isn't a dating service, it's much more important than that, so of course it's on the job that she meets the fellow straight out of her wettest dreams.

Just like a cop, she puts him in jail, after all, his wife is dead, the evidence trail seems to lead straight to him…and he’s a biker to boot.

Knowing he's guilty before interviewing him, questioning after he asks her to help prove his innocence, she and her fellow deputies set out to find the truth. And the killer keeps killing.

A stripper, a doctor’s wife, a single woman, a deputy’s wife, with nothing seemly in common except that they have been slowly strangled to dead in their beds, wrists bound with a scarf or hanky.

The pressure mounts, people want to feel safe again. But the killer knows his business well, and leaves no clues…other than a kiss, in the victims own lipstick…a deadly kiss of deceit.

Just because it’s a small town dept. doesn’t mean they don’t know how to do a careful and complete investigation. The smallest clues are collected and analyzed, the evidence slowly piles up as the killer, or killers seem to become more confident in their righteous invincibility, their innate knowledge that what they are doing is “right”, the victims deserve their gruesome fate.

LeAnn’s future husband happens to be the chief prosecutor, and he is very impatience with her insistence on “the truth”. She plans to marry Chad while dreaming of the biker “Snake”/ Marcus, and feeling properly guilty about it, eventually opens herself up to the possibilities…and enjoys it very much, leading her to decide that maybe marriage isn’t such a good idea after all.

Partly because of her affair, partly because she discovered a strength in herself she never knew she had to be true to herself, and survive becoming the target of a serial killer.

I appreciate the research Patricia Rasey puts into her scenes, characters, and her skill at weaving believability into a intriguing, easy-to-read tale.

This is a well written, fast paced read that doesn’t want to be put down once started, with a satisfying ending that leaves the door open for The Next Book in the Series….” Eyes of Betrayal”.

And that’s all I’m going to say, I don’t want to give the story away. Except, you’re definitely want to go out with a biker, or at the least take your bike or favorite biker for a nice long ride when you’re done with this great read…!

A fun, entertaining tale between a biker and a cop, KISS OF DECEIT whisks the reader along in a truly believable tale to hunt down the evidence in order to solve the mystery. But the fun doesn't stop there. Rasey sets out markers to alert readers to the true identity of the happy scarf killer. While LeAnne and Snake learn the true meaning of love, the tale ends in a twist any police officer would think twice about before realizing that criminals will go to any length to cover up their crime of passion.

This is one book I'm glad I didn't miss.

This was a book that kept me pretty riveted throughout the pages. It seemed so obvious who the killer actually was but Ms. Rasey managed at the very last minute to turn the tide and make you realize who the real killer was. That's not always an easy feat and, since I'm not sure how many books Ms. Rasey has behind her, I thought that she turned that corner rather well, all things considered. Yes, I guessed, at the very last moment, who the real killer was but it was truly at the very last moment and I like when that happens. It means, to me, that an author has done the deed well.

As the mystery evolves and reaches its climax, suspects are interrogated, more innocent women are murdered, and Snake joins LeAnne in trying to find the killer. But his proximity proves disastrous… In fact, being with Snake proves almost deadly.

Queen of suspense Patricia A. Rasey has another winner here. With seemingly effortless skill, this author has created an original, keenly suspenseful and deeply entertaining thriller that will make your heart skip and your pulse race to dangerous levels. Superb characterization, razor-sharp dialogue, and an excellent knowledge of police procedurals are only some of the fine qualities which make this a first-rate novel. The beginning will hook you. The middle will enslave your hands to the pages. The climax will leave you breathless. Definitely five stars!

If you are a Linda Howard or a Tami Hoag fan, you will love KISS OF DECEIT. It has been a while since I read a book that kept me on the edge of my chair and had me trying to solve a puzzle. The author gives us everything, interesting characters, murders that seem to fit but then she adds a twist.

I liked LeAnne because she is not a perfect heroine and you just to love Snake's bad boy character. There is a twist at the end that leaves you waiting for the next book.

The love story is interwoven with the search for the murderer and keeps you in suspense.

A novel with a lurid, rather graphic style - very frank. It hits you in the face and stays there. It rings true in places and the pace is such to keep you in thrall to the end. It is hip and very modern. This is an interesting novel, with an active story line that will keep you reading.

KISS OF DECEIT is a tremendous police procedural with enough romance that will entice romantic suspense readers too. The story line moves faster than Snake's Harley can go, but insures that he and LeAnne come across as real people. On the surface the lead protagonists seem opposite one another as he lives for the day in his grassroots lifestyle while she looks to the future yet both have deep senses of loyalty and duty. There are plenty of suspects with motives provided for each one. No deceit, this is a winner for those fans who enjoy a taut mystery with plenty of racy tension. Strongly recommend also reading Patricia A. Rasey's backlist to include FAÇADE, DEADLY OBSESSION and THE HOUR BEFORE DAWN as this reviewer intends to do.

LeAnne McVeigh enters a bar to arrest a biker accused of murdering his wife, alarmed when she feels an immediate attraction to him. The 6’4” biker, Marcus ‘Snake’ Gallego exudes an aura of danger and sexuality that is difficult to ignore, though LeAnne does her best to do so. Marcus, protesting his innocence, is sent to a prison in northwest Ohio while LeAnne continues to investigate the murder.

Also determined to discover the identity of the man who killed his estranged wife, Marcus also encourages LeAnne to continue the investigation, though her lawyer fiancé, Chad Baker is none too happy to hear it.

Several additional murders have Marcus being cleared of the charges, and together they join forces to track down elusive witnesses, fighting their growing attraction to one another the entire time, though innuendo and witty repartee makes such an endeavor nearly impossible. Confused about her growing feelings for Marcus and disillusioned with her relationship with Chad, LeAnne pours her efforts into finding a sadistic murderer before another woman is viciously killed.

Ms. Rasey has penned a stimulating, graphic tale with ‘Kiss of Deceit’, filled with unusual yet unique characters. Her clever dialog, three-dimensional characters and a who-done-it-plot rich with unsavory characters provides a suspenseful read for anyone looking for something a tad beyond the norm, and one that compels constant page turning until the guilty party is discovered in an electrifying conclusion.

KISS OF DECEIT has just about everything that a reader could want in a book. It has suspense, thrills, mystery, intrigue, murder, and sensual/sexual moments. The characters are multi faceted. They bring excitement, intrigue, and life to an already fascinating story. They feel real with all the warts and faults that true humans possess, and the reader feels them all.

There are several suspects, and Ms Rasey gives just enough hints along the way that you know it could be any of them, and still you cannot figure out which one. Just when you think you have the answers, another suspect comes onto the scene to make you rethink your position.

KISS OF DECEIT reads smoothly, and is very fast paced. You will not want to put this book down to even eat. Ms. Rasey keeps the story moving, and just when you think it has slowed down enough to take a break you are caught up once again. Before you know it time has passed, and you are on the last pages of the book and totally surprised and overtaken with it’s ending.

I completely recommend KISS OF DECEIT to everyone. Anyone who loves a fast paced, absorbing thriller with a lot of mystery and intrigue is going to absolutely love KISS OF DECEIT. And those of you who like some sensual sexual tension mixed in are going to be doubly blessed.

KISS OF DECEIT is not just another tale of suspicion, murder, and intrigue. It is so much more. And Ms. Rasey is definitely the newest queen of suspense and thrills.

I advise everyone to get their copy of KISS OF DECEIT, as these books are not going to remain on the shelves long. KISS OF DECEIT is a volatile read, and one you do not want to miss.

Remember this name, folks: Patricia A. Rasey.

Ms. Rasey is going to be a force to reckon with in the speculative fiction arena. Her premier novel, Deadly Obsession, has garnered rave reviews from numerous pretigious review websites. This is a novel that would translate well to the big screen. The characters leap from the pages to grab you by the throat and squeeze.

In her soon-to-be released second novel, Kiss Of Deceit, she has managed to surpass the heart-racing excitement generated in Deadly Obsession. Her chilling descriptions of a serial killer’s inner torment gave me nightmares for weeks after I finished the novel. The plot line is totally believable; the dialogue is sharp and succinct. The story moves along at a fast clip and takes you on a whirlwind journey into the world of a madman.

Kiss Of Deceit is a stunning second novel that left me gripping my chair and looking over my shoulder at the dark shadows in the corner. I am very impressed with Ms. Rasey’s wealth of research and envious of her brilliant descriptive time.

Bravo, Patricia Rasey! Your rave reviews are well-deserved!

Snake Gallego is a big, burly biker who gets accused of his wife’s murder. Det. LeAnne McVeigh is the one who arrests Snake but afterwards she has doubts that he is actually guilty. Chad Baker is the County Prosecutor and also engaged to LeAnne; he thinks that they have the right man. Snake’s alibi steps forward and he is freed. A serial killer is on the loose and must be caught. There are several suspects but the author gives just a hint of information to make you know that it could be any of them.

This is a very well-written book. The plot goes along at a fast pace with a lot of suspense and electrifying, sexual tension between LeAnne and Snake. When you finally find out the killer’s identity, you will be surprised.

This was definitly a heart-racing novel in more ways than one. What a super read! I will not forget this one.

Kiss Of Deceit keeps you spell-bound right to the very end. Patricia Rasey has done a masterful job at concealing the identity of the killer until she is ready to bring all the pieces together. She gives you a handful of suspects to think about, any one of which could be the murderer, but she gives you nothing that will reveal the true identity of the killer. This is definitely a book that a person will want to read over and over, to see if possibly there might be a clue in there that they might have missed.
