New

This is the first time I've ever read one of Patricia A. Rasey's books and from the title I thought it was a Vampire book. I was a little disappointed to find out it wasn't, however when I got into the book I realized it was a great read because I just couldn't put it down. The story drew me in.

Set in 1920's New York & Denver, Colorado, this Romantic Suspense has you wondering whodunit from the getgo! It'll be total surprise, I assure you, and I've read a lot of mysteries.

Foster Taylor is a man who has raised himself up from nothing to be the owner of a several hotels in Georgia, New York & Denver. It seems someone is out to get him by going after those he loves, as a result he's afraid to love. He's become a ladies man who refuses to settle down and moves on when any lady tries to get too close.

Brooke Abel has had a tragic life. Born in poverty, seeing her parents murdered, trying to live with an abusive relative, then finally going back home to Denver to make a home & a living, she opens Body Apparel inside the latest hotel belonging to Foster Taylor.

There are several characters woven into the story who create a realistic time capsule and a mystery that will keep you going to the very end!

The only flaw I really thought I ran across was the hero having long hair tied back with leather. I don't think the 1920's was a time for long hair on gents, but then again, I wasn't there. I was impressed with this book and will look for more of Patricia Rasey's books!

Dark Savior is set in the 1920’s, an era of prohibition, gangsters, and speakeasies. Foster Taylor, self made hotel mogul, leaves New York and his latest mistress Ashley behind to open his newest hotel in Colorado. The split is amicable to both as neither claimed to be in love. On Taylor's part, since losing his love Lynette and the unborn baby she carried to a brutal attack, Taylor only gives the women in his life loving, but never his true love. One day while looking for a present for his latest mistress, he enters a shop in his very hotel to find the shopkeeper seems to be none other than Ashley herself, or is it?

The beautiful shopkeeper claims to be named Brooke, that she does not know who he is, and has lived in Colorado all her life. She is frightened and yet attracted to the devilishly handsome strange man claiming to have known her before - intimately. But the danger to his former paramours that followed Foster to New York from Florida, seems to have now come to Colorado. If Brooke gets close to Foster will she become the next target?

Dark Savior is a timeless romance with a touch of intrigue and mystery. This story is set in 1920 America but could easily have taken place more recently. The characters are full and well formed people you would like to meet and get to know better. Brooke is a smart, determined young woman running her own business and taking care of herself in an age when women were just beginning to assert their independence. With its colorful imagery and beautiful love story, Dark Savior is a story to be savored and remembered.

4 1/2 stars!

Foster Taylor has it all, money, looks and his health. Now that his fifth hotel has been completed in Denver, the "wandering bug" has hit him again. So he bids farewell to his current lover, Ashley Heath, and goes to Denver, where he will live in the penthouse of his hotel. Of course, part of the reason Foster wants to leave is because of his own personal "demon". Foster was engaged at one time. With his soon to be wife pregnant and not feeling well, Foster ran to get the doctor. When he got home, he found the mother of his child covered in blood. This was just the beginning. Every woman he's become involved with since then has died, except Ashley. Somehow, she managed to survive after being stabbed. Brooke Abel has been on her own since the death of her parents. They were traveling east to New York when the train was robbed and her parents were murdered right in front of her. Not wanting to deal with the memories of her parents just yet, Brooke continued to New York to meet her aunt. When she finally felt ready, Brooke went back home to Denver. She now runs a business in the lobby of an exquisite hotel and is engaged to a professor. Things haven't easy for Brooke, her parents were definitely not rich and she's managing to scrape by. Of course, with both the rent on her apartment and on her shop being late, she finds herself in a bit of a bind. So when the stranger comes into her shop calling her Ashley and grabs and kisses her, causing her to knock into one of the shelves and breaking all kinds of her stock, she is not exactly pleased. She's also not quite ready to admit her reaction to this man. When he comes in the next day and gives her a one hundred dollar bill, Brooke begins to think of Foster as her own DARK SAVIOR. This amount of money will not only allow her to pay both rents, it will also give her a comfortable cushion.

Will Brooke end her engagement with a man she doesn't love in order to see where her feelings for Foster might lead? Will Foster pursue Brooke, even though he knows he'll be putting her life in danger if he does? Exactly who is murdering all of Foster's girlfriends? Why does Foster think Brooke is Ashley?

DARK SAVIOR is a fascinating look at life in the 1920's, from the Speakeasies to the flapper dresses, everything is here. Patricia A. Rasey has once again done a wonderful job of bringing the period to life in this absorbing suspense. We get to experience right along with Brooke and Foster as they examine their feelings for each other and those around them. Of course, the love of her life may also cause the end of it for Brooke. If you enjoy a good suspense filled with all kinds of subplots, don't miss this one!

Four years ago wealthy businessman, Foster Taylor, departed the city of New York, leaving his latest mistress, Ashley, behind. Foster was running from the danger that seemed to follow him and to protect those he cared about. His one true love, Lynette, was murdered viciously while carrying their unborn child. The murderer was never apprehended and Foster didn’t want harm to befall those he cared about. Now living in Denver, Foster runs his hotel there, and living a fairly quiet life. But the day he walks into a small shop, The Body Apparel, and sees a woman who he believes to be Ashley, who he left behind in New York, Foster’s life is forever changed with a case of mistaken identity.

Fairly certain that this woman, who claims her name is Brooke, is really Ashley, Foster uses his powerful connections to learn more and wonders why this woman, who looks so much like his last mistress, would pretend not to know him. All the while, danger is still lurking behind Foster. The villain hell-bent on destroying Foster’s life is back with a vengeance and targets Brooke, who Foster has grown attached to. Will another woman who is only guilty of loving Foster Taylor die in a game of revenge?

Brooke Abel, owner of The Body Apparel shop, traveled to Denver to escape her past. Never in her wildest dreams did she once think a handsome stranger would mistaken her for someone else, or set her world into chaos. Before meeting Foster, Brooke led a calm, quiet life and was even discussing marriage with the gentleman she had been seeing. But Foster shows Brooke what she really wants in life and hopes for a happy ending. But first, she has to watch her back, as a murderer is determined to take her away from Foster.

Murder, betrayal, suspense and love surround the lives of Foster, Brooke and those they love.

Set in the 1920s in Denver, Colorado, Patricia A. Rasey brings us a tale of a charming and magnetic man in Foster Taylor, who is sexy as sin and a knight in shining armor. Though a murderer is after Brooke because of Foster, it doesn’t stop these two characters from becoming very important to one another. From their first meeting, which sets the stage for more of the same volatile and explosive meetings, Brooke and Foster sizzle and entertain. The danger surrounding the couple, which is felt through nearly the entire story, keeps the reader second guessing themselves. Just when I was certain of who the villain was, the ending arrived and I was blown away by their identity. I never suspected the ending result. Ms. Rasey pens a great historical romance with compelling suspenseful elements to her story.

From the lead characters of Brooke and Foster, to his mother Mabel, his sister Amanda, to his best friend Kip, Dark Savior is elite with continuous entertaining characters, witty and fun dialogue and unbreakable bonds. A sinister game of cat and mouse, edge of your seat suspense, love, loyalty, as well as betrayals, hold a readers complete attention when reading Dark Savior. An author who always delivers, Patricia A. Rasey does it once again with her latest powerful creation - Dark Savior.

They say everyone has a twin. This saying is proved true when Foster Taylor, scruffy in his jeans and casual shirt, mistakes the intriguing proprietress of Body Apparel (a lingerie shoppe in his swank Denver hotel) for his former New York lover. The lovely and very engaged Brooke Abel is unnerved by her attraction to this uncouth and liberty-taking rake, who has mistaken her for one of his many tarts.

To fight her attraction to this bold and mysterious man, Brooke tries to busy herself with upcoming wedding plans, only to find Professor Brian Thompson sadly lacking when compared to the exasperating Foster Tyson, a man who stirs her senses. Brooke soon breaks her engagement to the stuffy and holier-than-thou Thompson but quickly discovers that Foster’s hidden his true identity from her. Furious with herself for letting her heart rule her head, she needs a quiet evening alone to think things out, but finds solitude is simply not to be as a knock on her door reveals a friend, Alex Thurston, who also happens to be Foster Taylor’s right-hand-man. Alex’s amorous feelings are apparent, much to Brooke’s dismay, and he lets a cat or two out of the bag about Foster, in a feeble attempt to endear himself to this lovely lady.

Brooke is fairly steaming without realizing that Foster has reasons for all that he does. When Foster’s former girlfriends start dropping like flies, he fears for Brooke’s life—and her discovery of his dark past. But Brooke has skeletons of her own that threaten everything she holds dear.

This book sizzles from the first moment Brooke and Foster make contact until the last page. This confirmed bachelor who pits himself against a red-blooded, independent American woman has one heck of an uphill battle. Factor in Rasey’s wonderfully eclectic cast of characters, a murderous mystery, and a malevolent presence, and you’ve got a terrific story that reels you into the intrigue from the start.

It’s no secret that Patricia Rasey is one of my favorite authors. Her historical romances are top notch mysteries with a sensual side that are empowered by wonderful secondary characters who weave in and out, dropping clues, frustrating plans and giving the fabric of her story a unique texture. Dark Savior delivers!
